Movie Review: The Walk

Walking? WHUT RUSEL U MAD? No this is not ordinary walk. Imagine walking on a rope, 410 meters above sea level.

This movie is about a French boy, Philippe Petit, who had a dream to do a wire walk between the two World Trade Center buildings in New York. He was inspired by one guy, Papa Rudy, who real name I have forgotten. Papa Rudy was a high-rope walker as well. He taught Philippe a lot about rope walking, e.g. how to rig a cable, how to balance it and never be arrogant even if the end is just 3 steps away as death might be lurking everywhere when you are on the rope. On his journey, he met some artists and they became his partners in crime in achieving his dream.

Nothing is impossible

As walking on The World Trade Centre is pretty illegal, he had to do something he called "le coup" in order to pass security so that his equipment can get to the top. He made extensive research on the towers. Examining the shift of security guards, distance between two towers, date of completion and so on. He even made several disguises so that he won't get detected.

Then on that day, 7th of August 1974, he did it. An amazing 45 minutes on the rope. With amazing stunts such as lying down on the rope, kneeling and much more. Although a few had walked on the moon, only one will ever walk the void between the twin towers.

Personally I think it is an amazing movie, especially in 3D. It was so immense I sweated at just the height of the stunt, imagine one walking on it. So it is currently still on show as of the release date of this post so I recommend you guys to definitely watch this movie.

Story wise, the movie pretty much stayed to its roots of the real story, there are a few differences but it doesn't really impact the main plot.

Seriously 10/10 no doubt. Better than The Martian ( sorry Watney ) and other movies in 2015.

A short interview with Jeslyn Hong

So I had decided to interview one of my classmates who is the model student of our Junior class 2015 and also a great athlete of our school. Hope you guys enjoy it.

Russell: Hi!

Jeslyn: Hi!

Russell: May you introduce yourself to our readers?

Jeslyn: My name is Jeslyn Hong and I'm from J2R, Sabah Chinese High School.

Russell: So you are the model student of Junior High. What are your feelings on this?

Jeslyn: Well I would like to thank all my friends and teachers who supported me. Never thought that I would become the model student really, it was quite a shock.

Russell: No it shouldn't be, you are very friendly to almost everyone you meet. What are your interests?

Jeslyn: I like to play basketball, piano and race.

Russell: Talking about basketball and racing, could you tell us more about your athletic life?

Jeslyn: I loved playing sports since I was in primary 2 ( Grade 3 ) and I loved to play basketball since then as well. So I practiced basketball with the coach who was provided by the teacher. Before long I was representing the school on basketball competitions and soon I was representing the Tawau zone.
On track and field, I got interested on this when I joined my school's annual sports meet. I performed well so I represented my primary school and my secondary school. Recently I participated the National Independent Chinese High School Track and Field competition in Johor. All these gave me a lot of sweet memories. It was a really awesome ride. So we all need to follow our dreams and never give up.

Russell: Ahh you are also chosen to be a school prefect next year, any thoughts on that?

Jeslyn: Personally I think that being a normal student is better than being a prefect. There are a lot of pressure and difficulties when you are a prefect so I prefer to be a student if possible.

Russell: Alright I wish the best to your sports life as well as your studies. Before this interview ends, what would you like to say to the audience about their hopes and dreams?

Jeslyn: You can do it!

Russell: Ok so thanks for sparing your time for this interview.

Jeslyn: You're welcome. It is my pleasure.

Life is Strange Episode 5 Review Thingy?

Today, let's talk about Life is Strange, an episodic choice-based game made by Dontnod Entertainment.
It's amazing how fast time passes, I can still clearly remember the first episode.

This post will contain spoilers for the game so you should go watch someone's walkthrough or play it yourself before reading this post.

Life is Strange Episode 5 is a really dark episode compared to the previous episodes,why?
Mainly because it shows the choices Maxine Caulfield have made. If you have played or watched all the episodes, you will know that Maxine Caulfield is a human with superpowers, she can rewind time and change her or anyone's destiny. Basically, she has a power that can kill one or save one.

Anyways, Episode 5.
As you know from the previous episodes, Max has changed a lot of fate.
But mainly Chloe's
Since the first episode, Max and Chloe kind of developed a bond and since then Max has rewinded time just to save Chloe again and again.

In the end, you still can't change someone's fate.

Max was in a nightmare where all the friends she helped is mad at her, probably because of how she changed everyone's fate. Why would everyone be mad at her though, shouldn't they be thankful? Nope.
For using her rewinding skills, mother nature used her largest possible weapon to wipe Arcadia Bay clean and yes, it's the ocean.
Max using her rewinding powers supposedly caused a thunderstorm that can end everybody's life.

And that's where the hardest choice comes in;...

You are forced to choose to sacrifice Chloe or Arcadia.. Bay.

Man, I was so happy because I thought there will be a nice ending, but man is this dark.
But nevertheless it's still a great game. 
I am a sucker for these episodic choice-based game, that's why I love Telltale games.

ALL I'M SAYING IS, LIFE IS STRANGE IS THE FIRST VIDEO GAME TO MAKE ME SO SAD INSIDE THAT TEARS ARE GONNA COME OUT OF MY EYE.

   To store rubbish, humans invented trash cans. We have trash cans all over the place, so why can't you respect this invention by using it for the purpose it was originally invented for instead of abusing the intelligence of your own species?

   It's the same story...To save as much energy as possible, humans invented switches to turn on electronics when in use, and to turn them off when they are not in use. It's just that simple!

3. IMAGINATION, INNOVATION, RECREATION!

   Don't throw away used things once they are used, use your imagination and creativity, plus your innovative powers, to create something useful out of your "waste". You'll be saving a lot of things from being thrown away and treated as waste!

It is so vast, so many things that could go wrong. How could we do this? I mean we are just 5 stupid people with no experience in exploration whatsoever. Wassup people! Just a quick update on what's going on right now.

Tawau had a really bad haze on the last two days and unfortunately, it struck on a school day. So school was cancelled. RASSELL I THOT NO SKUL IS GUD??! Well, it happened on an exam day, which means the pressure holds on for another day and that means, NO FREEDOM FOR ANOTHER DAY!

With the haze still not trying to let go, we can't really do any outdoor activities and we all need to stay at school, it was fun and all at home but I really need to have some exercise or I might be fat pretty soon. So its either being fat or risking suffocating yourself to death, guess which route I took.....

But I do need to thank the haze for letting me study for one more day though. So on that day I went to Carlson's house ( Alvin too ) to study. TBH we didn't really read a lot, most because we just chatted till we wanted to study and by then it was already late.

If you could fly on one of these ships! I yelled as I see one of those sparkly, shiny metal ships in the sky. I always wondered if I could be one of the captains, sailing through the unknown space of the galaxy.

Now, here I am! Well, not just me actually but a few of my friends. We just graduated from Earth Galactic University so why not take a year off on flying unknown region of space? So, we all pulled our credits to buy a constellation! It was always a great sight to see them fly, now, I am the one that flies.

I took a hug goodbye at my parents, hoping I will see them once more once I am back. Well who knows? Maybe I will be freaking rich once I come back, bringing the unknown riches of uncharted space onto me. Maybe I will be a poor man, maybe I will be a god, the possibilities are endless.

Arghh the crew needs their pilot, guess I can't say anything more than this. Maybe a chicken sandwich for the starting trip. Wait, I smell bacons......

Society Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals Fundraising ( Pet Day )

Pets, man's best friend.

Well hello there readers! I know you guys are begging for a brand new post. " Ugh Russell I know about the ever expanding empire of your blog but I WANT NEW CONTENT." There you go, brand new post. Brand new world.

The event might be small but it is huge to the animals

So, my family and I joined the local SPCA charity fundraiser and you know who I brought with? RIO, my best brother ( Sorry Clement ) and officially my brother ( No certificate to prove it ). Well unless you are brand new to the blog or was too ignorant to know otherwise, Rio is my pet dog and I have to say this is the cutiest dog that I have ever met. No offence dog owners, you would do so too.

Anyway, about that fundraiser, it was organized by the SPCA to raise funds to sustain their shelter for another year and I do hope they made their goal. During the visit, I saw people, and animals, running around the place. It was a fun sight to see. Since Malaysia is a muslim majority country we have to be mindful when  taking our dogs out for a walk because you know muslims can't touch dogs. On Sunday, I finally saw dogs having rights to roam, not just being caged in their houses.

After a lot of squeezing, we finally made it to the centre of the event although it is very small. It was still very dense though. Bought some nice drinks and food. I must say the kiwi drink was very nice. Other than that, my dog got the chance to socialise with other dogs ( YAY ). My dog also got bullied as well ( AWW ).  There was an adoption centre there as well and if some of you guys did adopted one home, thank you. You managed to free one space from the shelter and save two lives to be honest. One from which you adopted and one where they can get another animal into the shelter to live.

So, what's else? Well, we also got  karaoke contest. I do not know the winner because I went home before it ended. An owner and pet most alike contest was organized as well. The winners will be showed on their facebook page soon I believe.  There was also some small games section and I watched those children play so happily it made me cry, literally.

My aunt and Jojo

After an hour or so, my aunt showed up with her female dog ( Don't make me say that word ), Jojo. She was like half an hour late but we welcomed her arrival anyway. Jojo is like the ex to Rio, she hates him, I mean they are friends yet she wants to fight with him every time we took Rio to her house. Jojo was the star went she arrived. Everyone was like OMG SUCH DOGE, SO WOW while Rio stood on the corner barking at trees.

Soon, it was time to leave. My sister and I decided to follow my aunt home. Since it was noon we went to the nearby restaurant for a snack and guess what? We went to McDonald's. It might not sound so exciting to you but you know what? We gave our dogs a treat too. What treat was it you may ask? A vanilla ice cream cone! OMG RASSELL WHT ARE U DOING TO THOSE DOGS STOP U ARE SPOLING THEM!! Hey! It is a day for pets, might as well give them a treat.

I'm Cedric. A friend of Russell, of course. I saw his blog and and he said he needed new recruits, so I was interested in it and I decided to be the one who post about gaming. Hey everyone! Russell, my best friend had invited me to join his blog and I had accepted it. Well, let me introduce myself first. My name is Clement, 14 years old, best friend to Russell. He is such a nice person , hyperactive, crazy, funny and genius. We have been knowing each other for around 7 years and we live in the same neighbourhood. We used to be crazy playing together when we were children but now we seldom communicate with each other since we are not in the same secondary and busy with our own activites but the holiday is coming so we are going to hang out usually. In addition, I love sport such as badminton and basketaball. I am also involved in school uniform as a member of Boys Brigade and have fellowship with another members. Final Day At Taiwan

Hi guys I am terribly sorry for not posting about the trip for so long. That is because I am kinda busy and I am at my cousin's house for a few days but now I am back to bring you the final day of my trip.

This day, as I said before, we went to tamsui beach for that day. Since that day is Saturday. Looks like a lot of people want to go there like us. The entire metro train that is heading there is packed. The station there is also packed. So that entire area is full of people.

On that day we got to have some nice delicacies of Taiwan. We got to taste the frog egg juice or something like that. It is basically juice filled with passion fruit seeds as they look like frog eggs. It is kinda nice though. The scenery there is also awesome. We took some pictures at the beach and it was breathtaking. Other than that, we found out that some Taiwanese shows also came here to shoot one of their scenes. This was to be expected because of the beautiful scenery. There is also a bike rental there. But sadly I cannot ride it :(

During the evening we get to eat at one hakka restaurant. The food there was not really the same as to our dishes at Tawau but still pretty good. But one thing that makes me sad is that I am going to leave tomorrow. With an unwilling heart, we waved goodbye to my aunt and relatives on that night.

The next morning, we got off very early as the plane departs at 7.30 A.M. As the plane took off. I whispered to the window: "Goodbye Taiwan, we shall meet soon."

Should Teenagers date?

Ah teens, enjoying life of an adult where they don't know the responsibilities of being one. Welcome everybody! I am here to give you guys a question people always want to know and ask. Should high school students date?

Is the try really worth it???

Disclaimer: This is my own opinion. You are free to have your own decisions but you can obviously follow mine as well. This could be an opinion from an asian perspective as well so do not take this as a must to follow.

I know it is all fine and dandy to date. Isn't it? Yet I am not sure if I should take the path to LOVE AND HAVING FUN. It was since primary 6 that I said to myself: "When I am in high school, I must get a girlfriend". Well I've been in high school for 2 years now and.....here I am! Never dated a single time  ( Lonely crying in the corner ).

It is no doubt, dating is a great and fun experience well until the end that is. Mostly it leads to depression, sadness, confusion and so many negative experiences that I couldn't even describe. Other than that, break ups may lead to end of friendships if they can't really accept the end. Even worse, nothing is going to lead to anything fruitful as we are going to higher education in the near future. I mean, you don't really want to try long distance relationships.Do you? Ugh I can imagine the horror. Plus, any relationship can make our school results plummet. More scolding from parents, great.

High school is the place where we start to build the foundation for our life in the future. You do not want to be left out in the rat race right? Now rather than chasing after hot girls who might change the path of your life to the worse, why not change to the better by going after your dreams and ambitions? I mean, you could do much more productive activities than going out with your girlfriend and as I said earlier, it is not going to last anyway.

If you do support with me, great. If you don't, well I can relate. I do think that relationships can come true in high school but after 2 years I knew it isn't going anywhere. I searched for stories of people who took the wrong path and I saw people who turned over a new leaf. It is basically up to you to make up your own story. I have chosen mine. Have you?

Its been a long day......

Hey guys! Not sure if there is an audience left, but anyway I'm back! Better than ever

As a recent message that I received from the UN council, ( I'm just kidding ) our blog uses cookies and wants us to tell u guys about it if it even matters.

Anyway, a year has passed since my first blog post and I'm very glad to see that how it went through, considering I am not active for a very long time, I will now be giving constant updates on my life of 2015. One thing is, I met new friends, been to new places, gained experience and much much more. I'm typing on my phone now so I guess I can't say much except for the finals, which are coming soon.

Again guys, thanks for the awesome support and may this year be much more active than the last!
